Mission Hill School
The Mission Hill School XO laptop pilot program is DigiLit’s first collaboration with the Boston Public School System. The Mission Hill School is a low-income public charter school in Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood. The program is designed to help the 4th and 5th grades grow from a 0.06 laptop to student ratio to the one laptop per child ratio that enables ownership of technology.
The program includes:
- Teacher training workshops
- Classroom activities
- After-school sessions
- Pre- and post-assessment interviews and surveys
DigiLit is currently working with four 4th and 5th grade teachers to learn how XO laptop software can best interface with subject material taught at the school. Subsequent teacher workshops will focus on curriculum development, in preparation for introducing laptops to the 36 4th and 5th grade students in November.
Schedule:
September - December 2010: Teacher Workshops
November 2010 - May 2011: Classroom Visits
