Cambridge Friends School

The Cambridge Friends School XO laptop pilot program is one of the first in the Boston area. The Cambridge Friends School (CFS) is an independent K-8 Quaker school in Cambridge, MA. The goal of the pilot is to authentically integrate the XO into the existing curriculum, so that it becomes a tool for realizing creative potential instead of a glamorous afterthought.

Mission Hill School

The Mission Hill School XO laptop pilot program is DigiLit’s first collaboration with the Boston Public School System. The Mission Hill School is a low-income public charter school in Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood. The program is designed to help the 4th and 5th grades grow from a 0.06 laptop to student ratio to the one laptop per child ratio that enables ownership of technology.

Nicaraguan Deaf Association

In January 2010, DigiLit worked with the Inter-American Development Bank to set up an XO laptop check-out library at the Nicaraguan Deaf Association in Managua (Asociación Nacional de Sordos de Nicaragua, known as ANSNIC). Seven DigiLit volunteers brought 10 XO laptops for the library and taught computer classes for deaf students at ANSNIC. Disabled students are often left out of the One Laptop per Child equation, so we are exploring how to close this gap.
